Every house, or apartment needs to get their carpets cleaned once in a while.  Whether you’re thinking about doing it yourself, or you want to get the professionals to do it, I wanted to give you some ballpark carpet cleaning prices on what you’re going to more than likely pay.

First, let’s take a look at what is going to factor the price:

The location:  Your state, as well as city is going to influence the price.  The cost of living varies across the United States.   A place in Iowa will be cheaper than a place in San Francisco.

How many rooms:  The more rooms you do, the more it’s going to cost.  You will find that some companies will offer specials, where you can get a room for free, if you do 4 or more, etc.

Square footage:  Most companies will define the rooms by square footage, because it’s unfair to do a 10x10 room, or 40x40 room for the same price.  They will more than likely measure out the room, and give you a quote by the square footage.

Furniture, and more:  If you have items in the way, you will find that the more they have to move, the more they may charge.  Some companies clean around it, while others don’t.

What are the average prices:

Since the average home is around 1,000 or so square feet, you’re going to find that they typical company out there is going to charge you around $0.35 a square foot.  Now, this will bring your total to around $350.  This again is an average, because you will find that some are significantly more, while others are a lot less.

The average home gets their carpets cleaned about every 5-7 years.  If you want to save on your prices, look at special offers in your mailbox, as well as look into the Yellow Pages, and more, where you can compare prices.  As long as you call up about 3-5 companies, it should give you a good idea on what they want to charge.

Now, cleaning your carpets yourself really isn’t that hard.  If you want, you can always consider renting a carpet cleaner at your local Home Depot, and more.  This will only cost you around $50, instead of $300+
